Beekeeping Courses in 2021


 

Sleaford District – Are delivering the British Beekeeping Association’s – An Introduction to Beekeeping Course

Saturday 6th & 13th March – 09:00 – 16:00 hours
Saturday 10th & 17th April – 09:00 – 16:00 hours
Registration for 08:45 and a prompt 09:00 start, Finish times may vary slightly between 16:00 & 16:30 hours
Club Apiary Visits dates handling live bees will be arranged during the course

The course will include theory and will cover the BBKA (British Beekeepers Association) Course.
The course covers:- An Introduction to Beekeeping – The Honey Bee Colony – The Hive – History of Beekeeping – Beekeeping Year – Bees, Plants & Hive Products – Queens & Swarming – Pests & Diseases
Also including :- An Apiary Visit handling live bees in the clubs own Apiary. 

Course cost £70 per person
£20 deposit required to reserve place

A Beekeeping Course for 2021

Dates April 17th, 24th & May 1st (all 3 days)

Time 8:30am to 1pm with a 30 minute break included

Venue To be confirmed but will adhere to any Covid requirements

Cost £70 per applicant to be paid by a notified date prior to commencement

Applicants Maximum of 10 on a first come, first served basis

Apiary Session/s During or following course with date/s to be determined during course

4) The Beekeeping Year
5) Swarm Control
6) Honey Bee Health
7) Taking and Dealing with Honey/Wax
8) Practical – frame making

10) Apiary Session (weather dependant)

Category sequence may alter with regard to timings, weather and availability of topic deliverer.

The Lincoln District will provide all material for the course. To prevent any spread of disease, bee protection equipment will also be provided for any apiary session which will be held and maintained at the apiary site for future courses. The District will also provide the tools and safety equipment for the practical session.
